What is a Glycolic Peel?

Glycolic acid is a type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid or AHA. Glycolic acid is normally derived from natural sources such as pineapple, cantaloupes, or grapes. Like all chemical peels, Glycolic acid peels exfoliate the top layer of skin to reveal the newly maturing skin underneath. Glycolic peels work to decrease the appearance of blemishes, sun spots, age spots, wrinkles, and fine lines. Glycolic peels come in a variety of concentrations, with lower concentrations recommended for more sensitive skin. This chemical peel is a great alternative to more abrasive exfoliation methods.

How is it used?

Glycolic peels have become so popular because you can see results just after one treatment. Your skin will have a smoother texture, and have a more healthy glow. Your makeup will also go on more smoothly. Peels can be repeated in one to two week intervals. During a glycolic peel treatment,  your face is cleansed thoroughly before application of the glycolic solutions. This ensures for deeper penetration of the acid.
